Continuation from Explore Bohol Part 1

SHIPHAUS

In the town of Batuan, a house that built like a shipping vessel is the newest attraction in Bohol also known as SHIPHAUS. The house is owned by Captain Gaudencio Dumapias a master Mariner. The house was opened to the public in late 2011.

Since it does resemble a ship both outside and inside, it also has captain’s cabin, mini bar and others.

BILAR MAN-MADE FOREST

Stretching up to two kilometers, a densely planted mahogany tree is located in the border of Loboc and Bilar towns.

LOBOC RIVER CRUISE RESTAURANT

We don’t have enough time to try river cruise restaurant, but here is the info, a minimum of Php 400.00 includes a buffet meal, a short cultural show and a river cruise.

XZOOTIC ANIMAL PARK

Located at Agape, Loay Xzootic Animal Park is a place to visit where you can see some exotic animals such as ostrich, owl, civet cat, bear cat and others. 

One of the main attractions here is the 200 kilograms Burmese python “Norio”.

BAMBOO HANGING BRIDGE

The bamboo Hanging Bridge which crossing the Sipatan River located at the Minicipality of Sevilla Bohol, is one of the enjoyable sightseer attraction.  The bridge spans around 40 meters and offers a nice view of the emerald Sipatan River. Also, you will find the ever famous “The Buko King”, known for his strong teeth that can strip a coconut for about ten seconds.

There are two bridges, you can cross on one bridge and come back on the other. It’s a one way system.

CLARIN ANCESTRAL HOUSE

If you are that type who wants to look back history, you may visit these centuries old Clarin Ancestral House located in Loay Town about 18 Kilometers from Tagbilaran City. A traditional Filipino-Spanish design way back to 1840. It was declared a heritage site by the National Historical Institute.

The house is owned by a former governor of Bohol, Don Aniceto Clarin. His son was the first senator of the 11th District, Jose Aniceto Butalid Clarin.

Exploring Bohol Part 1

Bohol is one of the promising tourist destinations in the country. At first me too is so raring to go to see what chocolate hills looks like, because I only see those beautiful hills in a postcard and internet. Its summer a perfect time for vacation, from Cebu we take a fast craft ferries from Pier 1, Cebu City going to Tubigon Port, Bohol. Tubigon is located at the eastern coast of Bohol Island.

TUBIGON PORT

Arrived at the Port of Tubigon, we are welcomed by Kuya Ricky our traveler guide for the trip.

SAGBAYAN PEAK

Our first destination is Sagbayan Peak, a fifth class municipality in Bohol. Sagbayan means “place for hanging” which comes from the root word sagbay means “to hang”.

Sagbayan Water Park is located at the front of Sagbayan Peak, but due to the limited budget we were not able to visit the place. Maybe for the next trip to Bohol, it will be included on our bucket list.

TARSIER SANCTUARY

The smallest primates that can only be found in the Philippines archipelago, which is inhabited in Bohol, are one of the most visited spot in the place. Tarsiers are very peculiar small animal; they are also nocturnal primates that measure about 4 to 5 inches.

It was a nice experience of seeing a live one right in front of you.

CHOCOLATE HILLS

Bohol is known for its famous tourist attraction which also marked the symbol of this province is the Chocolate Hills. This giant mole like hills are scattered throughout the towns of Carmen, Sagbayan and Batuan.

A big bell with wishing well is positioned at the viewing deck.

At the viewing deck a picturesque view of chocolate hills will surprise the tourist.

National Power Corporation Natures Park

One of the major tourist spots when you go to Iligan City also known as the "City of Majestic Waterfalls" is the National Power Corporation Natures Park. 

It is a home of the grandest and most magnificent among the less than 30 waterfalls, the Maria Cristina Falls. Sometimes it is called the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the wall. Legend has it, that the rocks surround the pool were said to be the formidable magical war boat of Prince Bantogen, a Maranao-Maguindanao epic hero “Darangen".

On the ground of 320 feet high falls, that spews 130 cubic meters per second of water is a long standing Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant, operated by the National Power Corporation that generates 70% of Mindanao’s Electricity.

Additional amenities and recreational facilities have been added to the nature park so that visitors can enjoy the view of natural beauty and grandeur of the place.

Fort San Pedro Cebu

One of the most visited places in Cebu is Fort San Pedro or Fuerza San Pedro, Also known for its triangular shape. The two sides are facing the sea and the third side fronting the land, that served as stronghold for Filipino soldiers.

 

Despite of the ages, Fort San Pedro is well preserved by the Government and now turned to National Shrine.

Fort San Pedro Museum, holds many historical items to learn its history.

It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the Pier Area of Cebu City.
